Internship Assignment: Extending and Improving the Capture End-to-End Test Framework

Objective:

• In this internship, you will extend and improve the end-to-end (E2E) test framework of Capture, an IT/OT (Information Technology / Operational Technology) framework. The Capture framework includes a range of features such as data aggregation and collection, data quality checks, data contextualization, data structuring via a unified namespace, and application deployment through a serving layer.
• You will work on enhancing the existing test framework to ensure it is more robust, reliable, and efficient in testing the various components of the Capture framework.

Key assignments:

• Understand the Capture Framework:
  • Architecture, key components, and functionalities.
• Extend Test Coverage & data sets:
  • Work with the development team to identify new areas where automated testing would improve reliability.
  • Add new data sources (Redis, OPC UA, MQTT)
  • Add functionalities (vision pipeline, SQL sync, etc.)
  • Add datasets through simulation or physical hardware
• Reporting and Debugging:
  • Improve the test reporting mechanisms to provide insights into test results, failures, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure failures can be traced back to specific components in the Capture framework.
• Automation and Integration:
  • Automate the execution of the test suite within the CI/CD pipeline
  • Integrate the test suite with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Collaborate with product development:
  • Work with the development team to ensure the testing framework is aligned with the system's architecture and ongoing development work.

Education Skills Required:

• Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages like Python, C# 

• CI/CD Tools: Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment tools like GitHub

• Data Processing & Integration: Understanding of OT systems and edge hardware

• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and improve test frameworks and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
